Custom banners & signs: compare printers on the right specs
Two quotes for a “3 x 6 ft vinyl banner” can describe very different products. These are the lines to compare.
Spec checklist for a banner quote
| Spec | What good looks like | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Named weight: 13 oz scrim, 15–18 oz, or 8–9 oz mesh | Weight sets durability, opacity and wind behavior |
| Ink | UV-cured, latex or eco-solvent rated for outdoor use | Outdoor-rated inks resist fading and water |
| Finishing | Hemmed edges, grommets every 18–24 in, or pole pockets with size stated | Unhemmed banners tear at grommets |
| Proof | Digital proof you approve before printing | Catches typos and low-resolution images |
| Turnaround | Production days and shipping days listed separately | “Ships in 1 day” is not “arrives in 1 day” |
| Guarantee | Reprint for production defects | Your safety net if colors or sizes are off |

Order early for events
For graduations, openings and trade shows, order at least two weeks ahead. That leaves time for a proof round, production, shipping and one reprint if anything goes wrong. Rush production exists, but rush shipping is where the cost climbs.
